This past Sunday, we stepped into one of the most breathtaking chapters in all of Scripture—Revelation 4. It should leave us breathless—not because of its mystery, but because of its majesty. John is given a glimpse into heaven itself, and the very first thing he sees is not chaos, not conflict, not even judgment… but a throne. And on that throne—the Lord God Almighty.
Before John is shown what is happening on earth, he is first shown what is true in heaven. That is not incidental—it is essential. In a world filled with noise, uncertainty, and competing voices demanding our allegiance, Revelation pulls back the curtain and declares what is ultimately real: God is on the throne. God is neither absent nor uncertain—He is infinitely sovereign and actively reigning.
What John sees is not only a display of power—it is a revelation of who God is. He is the Lord Almighty who rules over all things. He is a covenant-keeping God who does not forget His promises. And He is a worship-worthy God before whom all of heaven falls down. And what is heaven’s response? “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power…” He is worthy—not because of what He gives, but because of who He is.
And when you see Him rightly, everything else begins to fall into place. The chaos that feels overwhelming does not disappear—but it can no longer pull you into an ocean of despair. The voices that compete for your allegiance begin to lose their power, because there is only One who reigns above it all—and He is worthy of it all. What John sees in Revelation 4 was not given to satisfy your curiosity—it was given to reorient your life.
This Sunday, we will continue in Revelation 4 as we look more closely at the worship surrounding the throne—and what it reveals about the God who is truly worthy of it all. I hope you’ll join us.
Grace and peace,
Keith
