Greetings Meadowbrooke!
This Sunday we're beginning our journey through the book of Hebrews with Pastor Shaun Sells, and one phrase beautifully summarizes the entire message of this letter: Jesus is Better.
In Hebrews chapter 1, we'll see that Jesus is better than the prophets (vv. 1-3) and better than the angels (vv. 4-14). By comparing Jesus to the prophets and angels, God gives us an opportunity to see more clearly who Jesus is and what He has done.
Hebrews was written to encourage believers not to give up their faith in Jesus. Throughout the book, we'll discover that Jesus is a better messenger than the prophets, the angels, and Moses; He provides a better rest than the Sabbath; and He is a better High Priest than Aaron. Because Jesus is better, the new covenant is better than the old covenant, and faith is better than works.
If you need to be reminded of how great Jesus is, or if you simply want to get to know Him for the first time, this book is for you!
As you prepare for Sunday, I encourage you to read Hebrews chapter 1 and make a list of every fact you notice about the person and character of Jesus. What do these verses teach us about who He is and what He has done?
The goal is simple: to know Jesus better.
I can't wait to worship with you this Sunday and see together why Hebrews proclaims so clearly that Jesus is Better.
Grace and peace,
Dillan Adams
