Good Afternoon Meadowbrooke! |

One of the dangers of the Christian life is that it is possible to seem spiritually vibrant while gradually slipping toward spiritual decline. In the letter to the church in Sardis, Jesus confronts a church that was known for being alive, yet He says, “you are dead” (Rev. 3:1). Their issue was not overt rebellion but silent spiritual decline.
In Revelation 3:1–6, Jesus provides five commands as a spiritual remedy—practical methods for believers to protect their hearts from falling into spiritual weakness and complacency. These instructions remain just as relevant for the church today as they were for the believers in Sardis.
I encourage you to take some time before Sunday to read this passage in Revelation. If you have a copy of my book, I suggest turning to page 125 to read the reflection and work through the questions that explore the biblical parallels connected to this section.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday!
