Good Afternoon Meadowbrooke, |
Each of us begin with a presupposition. A presupposition is an assumption or a set of beliefs that you begin with. If your presupposition does not include or involve God, then your perspective on any and everything will not include God. However, if your presupposition includes the existence of God, especially the God of the Bible, then your perspective on life, purpose, and everything else will be affected by your view of who God is. For example, if your presupposition is that we are the product of evolution apart from the existence of God, then we humans are a part of the animal kingdom, and our value is determined on what we can or cannot do and what we are able or unable to contribute to society. But if God created everything, and we bear His image, then we stand apart from the animal kingdom and our value and purpose is rooted in our Creator.
This Sunday we will be considering another thing that I have heard Christians say, but just Christians; I have heard it said by people of all ages and walks of life. It is expressed in various ways, and it has to do with truth. I have heard it expressed this way: “I am speaking my truth.” I have also heard it expressed as “Living my truth” or “That’s your truth.” The title of my sermon for this Sunday is: “My Truth, Your Truth, Whose Truth?” and I will address this thing that I have heard so many times and in different ways by considering Acts 17:22-34 together.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday in our 9AM and 11AM worship services!
