Good Morning Meadowbrooke, |
This Sunday marks the final sermon in our series on the 23rd Psalm. We will spend our time unpacking the final line in this beloved Psalm: “And my dwelling will be in the house of the Lord forever.” I love how Psalm 23 begins with the Lord and ends with the Lord; I love how this Psalm encourages us to focus our gaze upon the good shepherd, and by doing so, we turn our eyes on Him and upward upon all the promises that are ours in Jesus.
We are promised that if Yahweh is our shepherd, then part of what it means to have His goodness and faithfulness chase after us, is the promise that our home is where He is. As I reflect upon David’s Psalm, I am reminded of something the apostle Paul wrote to the Christians in Colossae: “Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth” (Col. 3:1–2). I am also mindful of something that Jesus prayed for all of us the night before He was crucified: “Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world” (John 17:24).
I hope that you will join me in worship of our great God this Sunday as we conclude our time in the 23rd Psalm as I will have the opportunity to reflect on my favorite subject in my sermon, which is the future promise that we will see God face-to-face when He will remove every tear from our eyes! I am looking forward to seeing you in our 9AM and 11AM worship services.
